Advanced Percussion Ensemble

The Advanced Percussion Ensemble at Cheney High School is the upper level percussion ensemble. Students audition for this ensemble in April and May every year. This ensemble wears many hats throughout the year to include marching percussion, concert percussion, and accompanying Wind Ensemble at concerts and festivals.

Advanced Percussion Ensemble has a long standing tradition of excellence. They have won the regional solo and ensemble contest 15 out of the last 16 years. This also includes three placements at the state level. They received first place in 2008, third place in 2009, and second place in 2016.

Percussion Ensemble

Percussion Ensemble is our entry level percussion ensemble at Cheney High School. Anyone with previous percussion or piano experience is able to be a part of this ensemble. Percussion ensemble focuses on fundamental techniques, concert band music, and percussion ensemble throughout the year to get students prepared for Advanced Percussion Ensemble. This group performs at the regional solo and ensemble and with Symphonic Band at their three regular concerts.

This group also has a long standing tradition of excellence. This group often receives superiors at the regional solo and ensemble and is often seen listed as a first or second alternate only to our Advanced Percussion Ensemble.
